Ask any youth flag football coach what they dread about tournament season and you'll hear the same thing: a pile of one-off weekends that don't connect to anything. A new national calendar from iFlag Youth aims to change that, and it could reshape how your team plans its year.
On October 1, iFlag Youth launched Road to Worlds, a connected season that links youth flag football tournaments across five regional Premier Circuits to the iFlag National Championship and the iFlag World Championship. The 2026–27 calendar includes 24 circuit tournaments, and every event is open to all teams.
▸ SoCal: 7 tournaments, starting Nov. 14–15, 2026
▸ NorCal: 7 tournaments, starting Mar. 13–14, 2027
▸ Tampa Bay: 5 tournaments, starting Feb. 26–28, 2027
▸ Las Vegas: 3 tournaments, starting Jan. 22–24, 2027
▸ Dallas: 2 tournaments, starting Nov. 20–22, 2026
The National Championship runs January 15–17, 2027 in Tampa, Florida, and the World Championship follows July 9–11, 2027 in Ontario, California. Boys and girls divisions run from 7U through 18U. There are no bids or qualifiers required, and teams compete under their own names. WorldPath Points, a seeding system rather than a ranking, begin at Nationals, with full details due in December.
iFlag CEO Monty Holloway put it plainly: "Coaches have been asking for a season that connects, where the tournament you play in November has a place in the road to July."
For organizers, that means a clearer calendar to build around. For parents, it means a November tournament can become part of a longer story instead of a single weekend. And for young athletes, an open-door format means a rec-league team can play on the same stage as a travel program.
A national season is exciting, but bigger isn't always better for every kid. Travel costs add up, and pricing hasn't been announced. Before committing, ask whether your players want more competition or simply more fun. Many families will be best served by a strong local season, with one or two tournaments as a bonus.
